Advantages: great illustrations story and way to introduce sayings to children

We picked this book up for my son at our local car boot sale for 50 pence and it has definitely been worth its money.

The book

There are two formats for this book a board book and a paperback book. We have the board book version and I would definitely recommend by it in this version for toddlers due to them being more robust.

The story
Its not really a story as such but rather a description of "My Dad" It starts off with "He's all right my dad" then moves onto the descriptions over the following 23 pages. The descriptions are lots of sayings such as :
" He's as strong as a gorilla and as happy as a hippopotamus. He's a great dancer, a brilliant singer, he's fantastic at football and he makes me laugh. A lot."

Each description is beautifully illustrated with the dad in his blue striped pyjamas and yellow tartan dressing gown performing things such as dancing and singing.

It ends with the lovely "I love my dad and you know what? HE LOVES ME! (And he always will) with the dad giving the child a big hug. You only see the back of the child and the clothes and hair style are asexual meaning this would be a great book for both girls and boys.

This has been a firm favorite in our house especially for my husband to read it too our son. My son seems to know the story and loves the pictures especially at the end as my hubby always gives him a big hug like the dad in the book.

This book has also had the following accolades by real book critics rather than me and my son-

Overall I think this is a classic for children and is a must for any father to get this fathers day.
