I have long been a fan of Tony Parsons and if you are an existing fan this will not disappoint. Those who have read other works of Tony Parsons, most notably the Man and Boy books and One For My Baby, will have noted Parsons' love affair with China and this is in the same vein. A young lawyer moves with his wife and small daughter to Shanghai to start a new and more prosperous life. There they encounter they subculture of 'second wives' - essentially something like more respectable form of mistress. I think you can see where the plot goes from here.
