The DK 'My First Little Word Book' series also consists of numbers, phonics, and many other subjects. The series comes as a small sized board book, which is ideal for youngsters to handle. The books contain a multitude of colourful and exciting photographs of every day objects, in true DK style, which are used to illustrate the various learning objectives. There are a number of these books, published by Dorling Kindersley. They are all board books, with pictures of various things on a theme (animals, Christmas, general words, counting) and the words too. We got our daughter the Animal book and the Word book when she was about 15 months old, she loved them both and it really encouraged her to start making the connections between words and pictures. We started off by telling her what each picture was of, then we progressed to asking her things like "can you see a cow" etc, and she would point to the correct picture.
