There are a number of these books, published by Dorling Kindersley. They are all board books, with pictures of various things on a theme (animals, Christmas, general words, counting) and the words too. We got our daughter the Animal book and the Word book when she was about 15 months old, she loved them both and it really encouraged her to start making the connections between words and pictures. We started off by telling her what each picture was of, then we progressed to asking her things like "can you see a cow" etc, and she would point to the correct picture.
