At first glance, it would be easy to assume this is another story about a horse. That is indeed what first drew 11 year old me to select this book at the bookstore, but within its pages I found so much more. This is the story of a coming of age, not only of the young boy whose story is told, but that of a father too, coming into his own as parent. Its easy to shine as an adult when everything seems to be going your way. Former Army captain and war hero Rob McLaughlin seems to have it all at first.
