I am so glad this book has been included for opinion. I have been feeling very low lately, I have found it difficult to settle to anything. One day I picked up this book with the doubt that I would be able to concentrate on it. I had great difficulty putting it down. The Dalai Lama tells his story with humour and sadness...but no guilt. My Land My People is the autobiography of the Dalai Lama of Tibet, it chronicals his life, the invasion of Tibet, his flight into exile & his continuing struggle to free his land & people. This book is well written giving an insight into the culture, lifestyle, religion & fragile existance of what now remains of Tibet. I feel very strongly about how we in the west stood back & let this travesty of justice happen we should all be ashamed of ourselves while we celebrate our freedom. The book starts out with the hunt to find the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama giving the most fantastic detail of a truely remarkable & gentle man.
