My little boy was recently given some new books for his collection as a gift from his grandparents. One of these books was My Ocean Creatures Sparkle Book.

My Ocean Creatures is a relatively small book with thick pages making it suitable for children of a younger age. Its shiny surface makes it easy to wipe clean if necessary.

This book has a similar concept to a touch and feel book, having cut-out areas with gold and silver reflective foil situated underneath. The detail makes the book all the more intriguing for children. My son in particular loves to run his fingers along the foil and examine each illustration.

Being just one and a half, this book probably has more benefit to children who are a little older due to its educational content. However for now he has the enjoyment of the sparkling pictures and will point out the fish as he spots them throughout the book. He will no doubt enjoy this book on another level as he grows older.

My Ocean Creatures Sparkle Book has just five pages, yet it is crammed full with fun ways to learn. Each page has an underwater scene, on the first page we are asked how many fish and how many shells we can spot. This of course encourages counting skills. The second page asks us to spot the deep sea diver amongst the fish. Each fish and sea creature is also named in clear text, teaching recognition skills. The third page concentrates on the colours of the sea creatures, with some having the colour stated next to them and others whereby we are asked to state the colour. The fourth page asks us to count how many there are of each sea creature and the final page asks us to spot the odd one out.

This book is very interactive and is a great way of teaching your child essential skills through reading. The various activities throughout the book are challenging yet fun. The illustrations are bright and attractive and the sparkle elements further enhance that.

Though it is of benefit to slightly older children it is also enjoyable for younger children who will learn to take part in the activities as they grow.
