This is a book we recently took out of the library. When I saw it was by Rod Campbell I knew my daughter would enjoy it because she loves Dear Zoo and other titles by him. 'Lift The Flap' books are also her 'thing' at the moment so it was bound to be a winner. This book is called 'My Presents' and is obviously about a series of presents for someone's birthday. The first page just says 'It's my birthday! I'm having a party. All my friends have brought presents...shall we open them?' There is no flap on this page just a picture of some balloons. My Presents - by Rod Campbell.... My Presents is a lovely board book for pre-school age children. It is by the popular author Rod Campbell whose other books include, The Zoo and Oh Dear. This book that I have is a board book, meaning it has a hard cover and all the pages inside are also hard, making it hard wearing for little hands. This is one book that we have had for quite a while now and Jack loves it. The book has 18 pages and has a very simple story. The first page says "it's my Birthday and I'm having a party. Rod Campbell is a literary genius. What that man can do with flaps and five words on a page is enough to send any toddler's heart racing, which is probably why, whichever bookshop you are in, you can always find a book by Rod Campbell. Most people who have children or anything to do with children have experience of 'Dear Zoo', probably Campbell's most famous book - you can read JEHodgson's review if you like!!- but I for one only came across 'My Presents' by accident.
