Advantages: Moving gripping book

Disadvantages: Made me cry

I would classify myself as an occasional reader of Jodi Picoult books rather than being an avid fan however I do enjoy her writing style and ability to put together a moving storyline. This book is a bit ofa tear jerker of a story and one that I found very hard to out down once had started reading it.

The story is all about two sisters, one of them Kate suffers from lukemia something she was diagnosed with since the age of two and her sister Anna was conceived with the main intention of being able to help her older sibling survive by providig a source for bone marrow transfusions and other medical procedures that would give Kate a chance of living a fuller life.

The story is about how as Anna gows into a teenager she comes to view her purpose in life and how she seeks to establish her own independence when she refuses to donate a kidney to her sister and plans to take her parents to court to establish her rights to make her own decisions regarding her body.

Thisbook is beautifully writtenand raise a whole number of moral questions in the readers mind, I have fairly strong views on child birth and the ideas of natural selection and doctors plaing God so I found the questions raisedin this book fascinating and at times quite horrifying.

This is well written and a very moving book that is sure to be an emotional read and a book that I definately recommend.

Summary: A moving novel
