This book is different than the other Virginia Andrews books, but equally sinister and gripping. We are taken into the confusing world of Audrina, a little girl bewildered by time and living an old fashioned and secluded existence with her family and her cousin who hates her and is jealous of her. She had an older sister who died mysteriously, and sometimes her father makes Audrina go to her room and sit in her rocking chair, and see terrifying things. But there are terrible secrets hiding in their family that everyone seems to know but her, and terrible lies built on trust and love, that when uncovered, will never threaten to destroy what remains of Audrina's sanity ... This is an odd one but the story is fantastic. Imagine you are a 7 year old child and your memory doesn't work like it's meant to. Audrina wakes up never knowing what month it is going to be or even what season. She goes to sleep and it's March and wakes up and it's July. She's confused all the time. As it turns out she's not bonkers at all but something really horrible happened to her and she has suppressed the memory of it and everyone in her family is covering it up because she can't deal with it.
