Advantages: SECTION ON BOND

Disadvantages: NEEDS MORE ON OTHER WORK

MY WORD IS MY BOND is the autobiography of actor Roger Moore.
The book consists of many chapters detailing his life.

The opening few chapters discuss his childhood growing up in London. Normally I find childhood stories boring, but as Moore was such a naughty boy these are actually quite amusing.

Moore discusses how he got in to acting and the hardships he had to make if he was to be successful. There are alot of anecdotes about the famous actors and actresses he has worked with and he is honest in talking about how he really feels about them.

Obviousy, the main focus of the book is Moore as James Bond. This gives a great insight into the world of Bond and how Moore got the role. He admits he was nervous taking as the role is so high profile. It's great that Moore admits he wasn't the greatest acting in the world and had many faults though as Bond was a cheesy hero he could emphasise this more. He explains that he loved working with guns, cars and beautiful women and realises it's alot of young boys dream to become Bond. I really appreciated the detail of this section and think Moore seemed genuinly humbled to have played such a prestigious role.

There is alot on Moore's other roles particularly The Avengers and other programmes on television which he had huge success with. I would have liked to have read more about his other television and movie work even though this was fascinating.

Like most autobiographies, he talks about his family and the influence they've had of him and says that his children being born were the happiest moments in his life. This was mushy, though since the rest of the book wasn't cheesy, you can let him off.

The book is written as though Moore was reading it to you. It's full of humour and cheekiness with a touch of seriousness that echoes James Bond. It's got lots of wonderful anecdotes and I read it nearly straight through.
Avaliable from AMAZON at £3.53 Bond fans should buy this.

Summary: MOORE IS THE ULTIMATE BOND?
