Advantages: Nice ideas...

Disadvantages: ...that could have been much better realized.

I remembered this being bad but thought I wouldn't find it so when I tried it again. It was, however: almost a self-parody in places. "Having A Wonderful Time", about a holiday turning into unlamented life-long exile when reservoirs are created for the unemployed of Europe on Iberian beaches, was good; "The Intensive Care Unit", about future human contact only being through the TV, had some nice touches (court-ship by camera technique: bold male zooms, teasing female fades and wipes). "Zodiac 2000" wasn't bad either (The Sign of the Psychopath, The Sign of the IUD, The Sign of the Vibrator), as an idea at least. Otherwhere, uninspired, patchy, too typical Ballard.
