I didn't actually buy this book - I borrowed it from my library which is probably the best thing to do. Textbooks come at a price - and they don't come cheap. And if your purse strings area little tight its best not to flash the cash on a textbook especially when you can borrow it!! The most helpful parts of the book were the bits...more |

I read this book for my Language and Text module and found it to be quite an easy read. Everything in the text is pretty simple to understand and if your doing anything to do with character focalisation, agents, and narrative theory you will find this book very helpful. I think this text is always recommended on the reading lists and to be honest it is probably one of the ones you would need to read. Great historical fiction (Cornwall 1790 - 91) with varied sub-plots. The election sub-plot wasn't as gripping as the rest of the story.

Beautiful story, lovely characters, fairytale. Very very preachy, bad messages at times, sometimes a little racist.
