Advantages: excellent character development. Nice showcase of fighting

Disadvantages: moreish

For those of you who dont know what naruto is I would reccomend reading my review of the first volume before this one as I do not want to spoil the story for you.

This volume of naruto picks up right where the second left off, after accidentaly entering a mission way above thier level the team ended up battling the much stronger ninja Zubuza and his companion Haku. Luckily for the trio Kakashi was able to end the battle using his intruiging ability of Sharingan (a bloodline limit technique which normally only the uchiha clan posses).

This volume sees the team regroup after the battle and embark on a new training regime devised by kakashi to help them fare better the next time they face their powerful foes. The training emphasises the different qualities of each of the ninja and serves to really heat up the rivallary between Naruto and Sasuke. After the training the team must once again face their powerful adversaries in a battle that sees the 3 young ninjas face death for the first time.

Aside from the excellent plot and character development this volume showcases some of the style of fighting that will be contained later in the series. This comes in the form of bloodline limit techniques and more of the jutsus as shown by kakashi and Zabuza in the second volume.

By putting the young ninja in such a terrifying situation where it is kill or be killed we are able to see them become more like the ninja they will become than the children from the ninja accademy we have come to know.

If you liked the first volumes of naruto you'll love this!

Summary: highly reccommended
