When reading through future issues it is amazing how much comes back to the events of volumes 5 and 6 and so I would class them as absolutely essential reading for any fan of this manga. If your reading this review then you're probably already familiar with this series and the characters soI wont go into detail here. If you havent read the previous books the I would avoid reading reviews on any book after the first as they may spoil the plot for you.
