Advantages: Good story, different dynamic from first book

Disadvantages: not so well-written

*This first paragraph contains some spoilers for the previous book Twilight*This is the sequel to the incredibly popular Twilight and is the 2nd out of the total of four books currently in the series. The first book introduced us to Bella Swan who decided to move from sunny Phoenix to wet and miserable Forks to live with her dad as her mum just got remarried. As soon as she gets to Forks she becomes popular with lots of new friends and a few boys chasing after her. But not all is as it seems with the mysterious Cullen family. Bella and Edward Cullen develop a relationship and fall in love, Bella consequently learns that he is a vampire but she doesn't care.

The second book starts off with Bella's 18th birthday. After a near tragedy Edward tells her that he is leaving her so that nothing bad happens to her because of him. Bella loses it and becomes an emotional wreck. In this story the main plot is how she develops a friendship with Jacob Black but not all is what it seems on the native reservation.

The story is good although some would argue that it's not that well written. It's nice to see Meyer instead of having another book just about Edward and Bella changes it and brings Jacob forward as a main character. There are some great moments in this book and it is probably my favourite book due to the fact that Jacob features more prominently and at a risk of being flamed I think he is a better character than Edward.

This is a great sequel and if you liked Twilight you'll love this. I love the different dynamic with this book and I definitely think it's worth picking up.

Summary: A good sequel to Twilight though some readers won't like the change of focus!
