Read Reviews for Nightflesh - Joseph Armstead
by Felicity Stuartson - written on 08/07/08
Rating:
NIGHTFLESH is an exciting urban fantasy novel, dark and fresh and violent, that will definitely satisfy readers of modern vampire fiction. It centers around the quest for power and vengeance within the criminal vampire community in a fictional northern California metropolis. The novel has taken the standard, familiar elements of vampire thrillers and elevated them beyond the genre with revolutionary style and panache. Mr. Armstead's characters each have a compelling history that adds depth to the proceedings, making the reader care about what happens to them. There are some fleeting episodes of melodrama in the story that diffuse the effectiveness of some scenes, but that is a minor complaint. Overall, this is a dramatic and adventurous story thrillingly told. Highly recommended!
