I have been a big fan of Simon Haynes' "Hal Spacejock" books for many years, despite the difficulty of actually getting hold of copies. Haynes is an ex-pat, living in Perth - Western Australia, and his quirky novels started life really as a diversion alongside that of being an enthusiastic hobbyist computer programmer. The reason for the difficulty in obtaining his books is that so far he only has a publishing deal in Australia and the US. No UK publisher seems to have cottoned on to the potential popularity of his books.
