Advantages: Danielle Steele fans will love it

Disadvantages: I kept comparing fact with fiction

As there is a picture of a ship going down on the front cover and the first chapter is headed with the date - 10 April 1912- it doesn't take the brain of Britain to work out the central core of this story.

I found this an issue, as because I felt I remembered so many actual historical facts about this story, I found myself cross referencing fiction with known fact. This was not conducive to a good read as I wasn't as totally immersed in the story, as I like to be. Now of course many stories are set around historical events, but rarely do we know the minutiae of the true event.

Nevertheless I wanted to continue to read the story and it was a good read, being a story centered around one family and one of the daughters' betrothed. It tells of their journey on that disastrous voyage to how all their lives pan out, (or not), until about about 10 years from where the story starts.

If you asked me to recommend a Danielle Steele book to read, this would not be the one. It is as well written as all her books are, but I think the fact that I was making comparisons to what I knew to be true till about a third way thru the book detracted from my enjoyment.

Summary: A light read- but not on my recommended list
