Advantages: fascinating and ipposible to put down

Disadvantages: Often depicted as a book soley for children- its not.

This a fascinating book, based on the principle of multiple worlds. In a world similar, but in some ways incredibly different to ours, an iresistabley irripressible child called Lyra stumbles upon an adventure she never could of imagined when she stops her uncle from being poisoned whilst sneaking around Jordan college, in Her Oxford. She gets taken to live with the wonderfull Mrs Coulter, but discovers that she is not as wonderfull as she seems, and is helping with a sinister program separating children from their "deamons" creaturs like a human spirit, but in physical form, that live with humans untill they die. With the help of her own deamon, pan, and the help of numerous others like Iorek the amoured bear, and a mysterious device called the althomiter, she must rescue the children, and find out the secret of dust, which is worrying both the proffeors of the college and the church, and bears a reseblance to the stuff we call dark matter. An enthraling read, though i would not give it to children below twelve, as the theories involved are quite challenging.

Summary: If you like sci fi, and fantacy, this is a wonderful read.

Not a bad review, but you need to say a bit more ,such as its part of a triology, and they've made a film of it. Not bad though :)
