(At the risk of being corny) I can't summarise this book (Northern Lights - Philip Pullman)

I'm not quite sure how to start - but let me get one thing of my chest. I feel genuinely horrified that anyone could compare this book to "Harry Potter". While the latter is nice, innocent, family fun, and perfectly good in it's way, it doesn't even approach being in the same league as "Northern Lights". "Northern Lights" is... intelligent, witty, exiting, daring, elctrifyingly emotional, thoughtful. It's powerfully origional. It's one of the few books that you can read, and know that the author is going somewhere completely unexplored. Summary: |
