Janice Levine made a pledge in December 2003 that she and her husband Paul would only buy what is necessary for sustenance during 2004. Like most Americans she already owns more stuff than she has room for yet keeps buying more and decides it is time to turn her back on overconsumption. As well as charting her progress in the book she also looks at the effect that not buying has on her friendships and place in the social order. I'll give a brief rundown of her year. January.
