Towards the end the reader is wondering what is going to happen - is Henrietta going to make it work with Rupert or is she in fact going to go back to Marcus. Of course. I have read and enjoyed quite a number of boks by Catherine Alliott so I was really looking forward to her latest offering 'Not that kind of girl'. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations and in my opinion is not nearly as good as some of her earlier novels. I will attempt to explain why... Firstly, a basic outline of the plot. The main character is Henrietta Tate who has been happily married to her husband Marcus for fifteen years (although we learn very early on that previous to marrying Marcus, Henrietta was jilted at the altar by the love of her life, Rupert). This is the story of Henrietta Tate a 30-something married woman with 2 kids, a husband and a farm in the country outside London. On the outside is seems like Henny (as she is more commonly called) has it all but she has been married to Marcus (her former boss) for around 14 years now and the kids are away at boarding school and life has become very routine. Her friend Penny (gets very confusing with Henny and Penny!) persuades her to take a job as a PA to a famous TV historian.
