Advantages: gripping romance, believeable, quick-read
Disadvantages: SAD!
The first time I read this book, I read it from front to back without stopping. No, it is not a very long read, but more than that it is a gripping story about life and love. The author, Nicholas Sparks, creates such interesting and loveable characters in his stories that it's hard not to be attracted to the lovers Noah and Allie. This book takes us through their life together in what is one of the most enjoyable love stories ever. It is not all happy times for Noah and Allie, especially near the end (my book still has dark spots on it from teardrops!) but that's what makes it so believable. If you're looking for a smutty Harlequin type romance, this isn't the book for you. Yes, the main characters do have romantic moments, but that is exactly what they are - romantic. Nicholas Sparks describes Noah and Allie's intimacy with class. The second time I read this book my husband and I took turns reading chapters. It's a wonderful book to read with someone you love. The story helps you to appreciate all the little joys of life in order to get through bigger obstacles later in life.
