Advantages: beautiful beautiful story
Disadvantages: it's very moving
This is not a book I would ever have bought, but having started it, once I got beyond the first few pages, I couldn't put it down. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone who might read it, so will say little about the storyline except that there's a story within a story, and it's probably the most moving and beautiful love story I've ever read. Set in North Carolina, this is the story of the love between Noah and Allie....a story which will draw you in on more than one level and a story where at some point you will gasp because you've understood.... The critics rated this more bittersweet and romantic than "The Bridges of Madison County" ("Library Journal") and having read both, I agree that this one is by far the more moving of the two. This is one of the few books, and possibly the only book I've stayed awake into the early hours to read and then read again when I've woken up, not pausing until it was finished....... While "The Notebook" visits the eternal themes of love at a deeper level than almost any novel I've ever read, it's a surprisingly original book. Prepare to cry, prepare to think, prepare to realise the meaning of true love. Not an easy read, but not one you'll quickly forget.
