Advantages: Very funny

Disadvantages: Not long enough!

Bryson's collection of short ramblings is one of the funnier books I've read recently.

Originally, written as a short, weekly piece for the Mail on Sunday magazine, the whole collection was then compiled into this very amusing book.

As anyone who is aware of Bryson's previous (or later) work, humour is the key to his writing. He has a canny knack of tapping into the more basic and mundane things in life and looking at them in a different way.

In this collection, I'm sure everyone would be able to relate to at least one of these short essays, and recall a similar event happening to them. It focuses on the fundemental differences between America and England (where he lived for about 20 years in Yorkshire).

This is a great, lighthearted book for everyone to read, especially if you like to read in short spurts rather than marathon sessions.
