Advantages: inspirational, really good!
Disadvantages: boring occasionally!
I picked this up from scholastic cover to cover catalogue that my school library gets every month! There was a review from an 11 year old who talked about this book saying it was good, and now I agree with her!
I hadn't ever heard of Rachel Ward, but if I had to base her on this one book, I'd say she is an author that will get on my top 10 authors sometime soon once I've read more of her! She hasn't released any more books, so it is possible this would be her one and only book she ever releases, and if that's the case then we might just about lose a great author. I'm really hoping she does release some more books soon!
Ever since Jem has been born she has seen numbers in people's eyes, but has never quite understood them. She used to think that everyone could see them but when her mom told her she was talking nonsense she soon discovered she was the only one! When her mother dies she quickly caught onto the fact that the numbers told Jem when that person is supposed to die. She tries to keep it covered and no one knows about this big secret of hers, but when she befriends Spider and meets his grandma everything spirals out of control! His Grandma knows that Jem has this good technique, and knows that she has this secret. And then she decides to go to London with Spider, but when they queue for the London Eye, she notices the people around her has this exact day in there eyes!
She and Spider run out of the queue and run away, and seconds later the London eye blows up! Spider and Jem could've been in that. But now they're running away. Both Jem and Spider are in trouble so they've taken a car and drove away, but what other occurrences are going to step in there way? And what is Jem supposed to do, does she have to save Spider, or does she have to save the whole world? Who knows? You will know once you read this captivating novel!
I really enjoyed this but, I found some points pretty boring and I remember at some points I nearly gave up on reading the book as I thought the story wouldn't go much further! I pushed on and was glad for it!
I can't think of anything else to say and to be honest I don't think this is a very good review; anyhow thank you for reading and rating!
