October Sky is thoroughly enjoyable read by Homer Hickam. He creates a beautiful story with characters that are brought to life. The book taps into every emotion and really allows the reader to feel with the characters. This novel is written very simply with delightful descriptions which allow a great bond to form with the subject and reader. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it made me laugh out loud as well as feel shock, horror and sadness; its impact is especially powerful as it is an autobiography of Hickam's teen years.
