Firstly a little bit about the author/artist. Osamu Tezuka (1928-89) was and still is known as the Godfather of Japanese comics, he is the highly acclaimed creator of the anime and manga Astro boy to name a title more known in the West. His eight volume series Buddha was winner of the Eisner and Harvey awards. Dororo begins in Japan in a period of time when demons and samurai roam the land freely and prey on the weak and vulnerable. One man sneaks into a temple one dark and stormy night to prey to the forty eight demons of hell .
