I have just finished this book and had to log on to review it straight away. Wow! This book is unlike anything I have ever read before. The plot focuses around the life of Meridia, from her birth to mid-life. Meridia lives with her father and mother, who do not speak, in a house on a hill surrounded by mists. The book is clearly based on a magical realism, while there are plenty of elements you would recognise as being normal, there are also plenty of unusual ones, mists carrying people away and beating up the postman, ghosts in mirrors, the woman at the market growing rosemary from her arms.
