Before I read “Off the Rails: The Memoirs of a Train Addict”, I knew virtually nothing about its author, Lisa St. Aubin de Teran. Now, the woman is a complete enigma! I spent much of the time I was reading this book shaking my head in wonderment; from an unconventional childhood, through the most bizarre of marriage proposals to a life dragging her children around Europe to satisfy he own whims, Lisa St. Aubin de Teran is one of life’s eccentrics and in “Off the Rails” she explains the attraction of rail travel and tries to show how her unusual childhood laid the foundations for her adult life.
