It is aimed at younger children and is based on an activity that most children enjoy--painting--but this time the artists are a group of toys. They each would like to do their own masterpiece but things begin to go wrong. Spots run and become stripes, stripes become wavy, spots become splodges but Old Bear comes to the rescue and he creates a work of art that incorporates all their attempts. Old Bear is always the wise one and takes all of their patterns away. When he comes back he gets them to cover their eyes and takes them all to the frame to see which picture he has put in it.
They are all surprised to see a picture of a boat sailing on the sea and wonder which one of them has painted it. The answer is explained by Old Bear.

***The Author*** Jane Hissey is well known for her Old Bear stories and has written many books in this series including Jolly Tall and Little Bear. As well as these stories appearing in print, there are many DVDs in which the characters are brought to life for us. The series can also be seen on Channel 5’s Milkshake show from time to time if your little ones are up early. ***The Story*** In this Old Bear story we find him painting a picture of Little Bear to put in a frame that he has found.
