Jamie Oliver is my favourite chef. Not because his recipes are so simple to follow and easy to make. Not because he doesn't make me spend my time measuring ingredients when saying "drop in a handful" will do. Not because he started a chain of restaurants called Fifteen where he hires apprentices who have little or no other career potential and trains them as chefs. Not because he promotes animal welfare in our food production. Not because when you follow him on Twitter you see what a down to earth guy he is. The man.. Jamie was born on May 1975 in Clavering in Essex. And I'm sure most people who've ever heard him speak know that his Dad owned (and still does own) a pub there (The Cricketers) and that's how he learned to take an interest in cooking from a very early age. By 11 he was preparing veg in the kitchen and as a he grew up, he countered the idea that being a chef was girlie by buying cool trainers with his wages! He left school aged 16 to go to Westminster Catering College and then worked in France. His first big break was working as head pastry chef for Antonio Carluccio at The Neal Street Restaurant. After that he was at the River ... Read the complete review

Jamie’s School Dinners has hurt me! Badly! When it came to Jamie Oliver, I knew where I was; I hated him. Lots and lots and lots. I even wrote a, I hope, amusing review of him and his original TV show on dooyoo (see http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/tv-programs/naked-chef-the/135682/ ). He has a horrible accent, a horrible personality and, generally, makes me want to wretch. The relationship between Jamie and I was easy: I hated him and he didn’t know I existed. I was happy with that. I felt it worked for us. I would have much preferred it if he’d let me carry on despising his face, voice and cooking without his having any idea that I lived and breathed. This is why I ... Read the complete review

This was the closest I could find to giving my opinion on Jamie Oliver so here goes. Is there a more irritating man on TV than this fool - the fact he is paid to be a prat 24/7 is just plain madness. Hopefully with the recent dimise of his BBC TV deal, we will be seeing less and less of this fool and see the BBC license payer money be used for something better - anything will surely be better than him. I know I am not alone in this opinion but it was something that needed saying! Anyway, his book, I am told by a relative, is very poor, in fact one of the poorest books they had read in a long time so not much joy on this front for Jamie here. No ... Read the complete review
