Ed Smith is a cricketer from yesteryear, the days of gentleman and players, very 'much the 'Jazzer', cricket slang for a posh blazer and tie pro. Andrew Flintoff quickly jumped on that 'weakness' on Ed`s England debut against South Africa and immediately christened him 'Lord Ted', and leaving the Kent man a gin-and-tonic on his dressing room chair to celebrate what would turn out to be his one and only test 50. That dressing room can be a harsh place in sport and one way the team learns to accept you is if you can handle having the pi** ripped out of you so to come down to their level.
