As with any tale there is always a beginning and the beginning of the Honor Harrington Saga is a stunning example of how to begin. It is a an excellent start to a series (He is, I believe, writing the ninth at the moment) that has given me a great amount of joy over the last year since I discovered the wonders of David Weber?s heroine and it has been, to me, a travesty that the series has not caught on over here in Britain. This is the first of a series of books about Honor Harrington, a member of the Royal Manticoran Navy. She has displeased an important person in the naval ranks, and has been assigned a post and a mission that no-one expects her to be able to fulfil. However, Honor is resourceful, clever and doesn't understand the meaning of the word "can't". She proceeds to accomplish what she set out to do, although with some unexpected results, and at considerable cost to her crew and herself.
