Advantages: So well written, keeps you guessing

Disadvantages: None at all

I have read every one of Paige Toon's books, and when I saw her new book out in Tesco's a few months ago, I just couldn't wait to get home to read it! I was not disappointed, this book is by far one of Paige's best.

The title and front cover gives away that its a romantic story, and a chick lit book, so I knew I was going to love it, this is all I ever read! This book really stuck with me for weeks, and there is a really sad part, involving a dog called Dyson! I just cried my eyes out, it was so sad!

The two main characters of the book are Alice and Joe, in the beginning. They meet whilst Alice is on a break with her Mum for a few weeks before she goes off to university. She meets Joe in a local pub where he works, and they soon start bumping into each other in the small village where he lives. Joe is treated really badly by his family, he has been beaten up and threatened by his family for years, they do not care about him, but he has no where else to go.

When he meets Alice, finally someone cares for him in his life, and I really warmed to Joe, he was lovely. Alice is a lovely girl too and easy to relate to and like. Alice and Joe get together pretty quickly after meeting each other and become serious straight away. They spend all their time together for weeks before something happens with Joe's evil brother, and he has no other choice but to leave before he gets caught. Alice hopes Joe will come back for her one day, she is devastated but is forced to get on with her life.

The book moves on through years of Alice's life, she goes to university as planned, meets someone else eventually, Lucas, who was not a likeable character when you just warm to Joe so much in the beginning of the book. Alice wonders one day if she will ever see Joe again, until one day she finally finds him, but he is so out of reach! The story goes on to follow Alice trying to reach out to Joe, and how her past comes to catch up with her.

I won't say any more, just read this book! It is so well written, funny at times, and so heart breaking at times too. Paige Toon's writing style is brilliant at making you really connect with the characters, relate to them, and I really missed a few of them when I finished the book! Even though it is a chick lit and you can usually guess what happens in love stories, this one really keeps you guessing throughout the book, and things don't happen the way you think they will! It kept me gripped the whole way through and I can't wait for her next book! Definitely give this a go if you are a fan of Paige Toon!

Summary: Such a good read, really miss this book!
