Description: ISBN 1847441483 / Author: Jenny Colgan / Genre: Fiction / Evie needs a good holiday. Not just because she's been working all hours in her job as a receptionist for two high-powered plastic surgeons - but also because every holiday she has ever been on in her life has involved ... more
Operation Sunshine - Jenny Colgan ... sunburn, arguments and projectile vomiting - and sometimes all three at once. Why can't she have a normal holiday, like other people seem to have - some sun, sand, sea and (hopefully) sex? So when her employers invite her to attend a conference with them in the south of France, she can't believe her luck. At last, the chance to hob nob with the rich and glamorous, to party under the stars, to live the life she's dreamed about. It's certainly the holiday of a lifetime - but not quite in the way Evie imagined!

Some of the jokes were fairly amusing, others were standard kitschy lines you'd find anywhere on the Internet or on cheap mugs. The storyline in itself was quite well developed, but a lot of the plot development was too good to be true or believable, and despite obvious attempts not to be predictable, the inevitable happened. I would go into more detail about character, plot, etc., but this book is so terrible I'm not even goin...more

I recently did a review on Jane Green one of my favourite authors and another one of mine is Jenny Colgan. Her latest book 'operation Sunshine' is not long out in paperback and I eventually got to read it a couple of days ago. The author: Jenny Colgan has brought out quite a few books in the Romance and chick lit category. All together she now has 8 books published and a further one planned for release next year in January. She lives in France with her husband and 2 sons. The story: The book follows Evie who is a receptionist for two plastic surgeons on famous Harley Street and who desperately wants to go on holiday and one in particular ...

I bought this book to take with me on holiday, as I found it in a 2 for £7 paperback deal at Tesco. The original reason for me being attracted to it was the front cover (I know I know, bad idea!), which in my edition is a sunny yellow with a simple print design and an embossed title in red/orange. What mainly grabbed my attention though was the recommendations by reivewers, magazines etc., particularly Heat magazine's, which described it as 'a perfect sun lounger read' - perfect for my holiday! However, this is one book I'd prefer to forget. Some of the jokes were fairly amusing, others were standard kitschy lines you'd find anywhere on the Internet or on ...

This was a book I got for Christmas, one that I had asked for because it looked fun to read and it had received rave reviews. I think I should've chosen a different book. THE STORY -- Evie is a receptionist for a very prestigious cosmetic surgery business in London. She works for two doctors, Dr. Bennett who is a smooth talking, brown nosing surgeon, and Dr. Maitland, a reserved but friendly surgeon. She works just around the corner form Lydia, another receptionist for another cosmetic surgery business, just not quite as prestigious as Evie's. Evie thinks it's time she should arrange the holiday of a lifetime. Her previous holidays ...
