Oscar and Lucinda is the Booker-prize winning novel of 1988 that introduced me to the wonderful Peter Carey - I would guess I've owned more of his novels than of anyone else along the way. Lady Jane and her family are brought to life. Philosophical discussion slows the tale down.

Interesting idea for a story Not terribly well executed

Realistic characters, dramatic setting, excellent historical novel, not a cliched romance Addictive - once you strat reading you won't be able to stop!!!

Good storytelling, easy reading The TV series has ruined it slightly for me

Entertaining read, fast paced, good characters A bit predictable in places
