This website offers free reading of previously published computing and IT books. It covers different aspects such as Programming, Certification, Games, Operating Systems, Content Management, Multimedia and Graphic Design, as well as Web Skills and Services, to name but a few. There are many beginners guide for those starting out.

The pages use HTML format, so you will need only your web browser(no Adobe or GlassBook Reader)in order to read. You can also 'bookmark' the pages in order to continue reading next time.

With rapid development in the IT and Computing world, the books indeed might be partly, if not mostly obsolete. However, I personally feel that it would serve as a worthwhile background read. In addition, it might give you some idea as to the writing style of different authors, making it easier when it comes to choosing which books to buy.

I think it would definitely be useful to keep this site bookmarked for reference.
