Alistair Sawdays books are an absolute must. Are you fed up with hotels that just want a swipe of your credit card and you not to talk to them ? Well we have travelled through France and Ireland on 'AS special places to stay' guides and they absolutely fabulous - in some ways I really didn't want to write this because they are a little known gem, but if you want friendly, different places to stay (don't expect cable TV, room service or franchised restaurants) them give these guides a go. From castles to cow sheds - this series of books will always be our first port of call when looking for a place to stay. Special note is taken of places that are organic food people or take care of the local environment - but definately no wierdos encountered yet !! Summary: |
