I found this book in the school library I shall use it for our weather topic.
The last Poem in her book is about cold. Now the weather is getting colder I shall tell this to the children.
Cold fingers,
Cold toes,
Pink sky,
Pink nose.
Hard ground,
Bare trees,
Branches crack.
Puddles freeze
Frost white,
Sun red
Warm room,
Warm bed.
This poem is printed opposite an illustrated page of snowy grass a frozen river with birds standing on the ice, bare branches a frosty house, a red sun and a man holding a childs hand and a dog on a lead, you see their footprints in the snow a wonderful winter image. Above the poem we see the little girl all wrapped up in her hat and scarf fingers encased in her gloves. Underneath The words she is snug in bed, Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
I read the poem about fire when it was near firework night the children really listened.
