When a young man is found clutching a bloody knife at the scene of a murder the case seems pretty much an open and shut one. Furthermore, the evidence seems to suggest that he is also the perpetrator of a series of killings which have been happening all across Los Angeles. The police, the courts and the media are all too willing to believe that this is the serial killer they have been looking for - everyone except one man. That man is Dr. Alex Delaware, the hero of most of Jonathon Kellerman's excellent page turners.
