This book is an essential purchase for anyone considering a degree involving the study of German literature. It would also be useful for someone looking at German history and culture in general. It would be impossible for me to calculate just how many times I have needed this book during my degree course (German - in case you hadn't guessed). Whether as a starting point before going digging in the library, or as a general reference for background information on an author or movement, it has always had something useful to offer.
