I appreciate that it's important to show kids that books come in different shapes, sizes and colours, but really this goes a bit far and is rather off-putting while you're trying to concentrate on reading! The Animal Party is one of six stage two Snapdragons books from the Oxford Reading Tree. It's very reasonably priced if you purchase it as part of a set from somewhere like the Book People, or you can buy it from Amazon for £3.75 which I think is a bit excessive for a 16 page book! This book has a slightly unusual appearance compared to the others in the range. The illustrations look like a child has painted them almost! They're very strange, with a thick white line around every person and animal in the pictures throughout the book - as though someone has cut them out and stuck them on.
