Advantages: Can find almost every word you need, includes many colloquial words (slang), suitable for all levels

Disadvantages: Huge and heavy

In my opinion this is the best spanish dictionary that I have ever used. In it's 2032 pages it includes every word I have ever needed to look up and also includes many of the slang words that we and the spaniards use in our every day language. This was a feature I was most happy about. For example, bumfluff is 'pelusa incipiente', and there are so many other colloquial words included.

It even includes advice on how to use the internet in each country and many different SMS abbreviations that are used in the two languages. I think it is complete enough for advanced level and I do not think it is too complicated for beginners. I think it is very accurate and worked a treat when I had my spanish exchange partner round at my house.

The words in it are clear as they are in bold blue lettering, many dictionaries are very difficult to use as all the words blur into what looks like a page of prose. The different sections for the different letters are clearly marked by blue tabs on each page that you can see without even opening the book.

The only trouble with it is it's size and weight. You will probably not be able to take this on a plane with you since it will take up half of your suitcase and probably weighs a couple of kilograms. This is a shame because it is so much better than a pocket bilingual dictionary.

Overall, it successfully got me through GCSE and A Level Spanish and the Spanish exchange. I find it incredibly helpful. As long as you have a word in either spanish or english, then 99.9% of the time you can find a translation.

Summary: An excellent bilingual dictionary
