Joseph Armstead is one of the "New Wave" of horror fiction authors, an American I believe, who seems to specialize in very cinematic, very dramatic, complexly-plotted novels that bring dark and conflicted characters into conflict with the Great and Evil Unknown. The topic of Alienation pops up frequently in his work, alienation from society, from sirituality, from general morality, and from physical safety. On the surface his books seem to be an odd blending of adventure thriller with "X-Files"-stle horror/conspiracy elements and Hong Kong action thriller with political intrigue.
