Newest Review: ... other crime thriller authors tend to go for the intense and deep plots, with twisting and convoluting descriptive passages, Patterson does away with all of this, and gives us no nonsense. His characters are best developed over the course of a number of books, as he glosses over a lot of details, often telling the stories in the narrative, giving his leads the control of the page and getting ... more |

If you take it in terms of financial gain, James Patterson is one of the most successful authors in the world over the past few years. Over 30 years ago, he penned his first novel, and has since become famous for his fast paced easy reading style of writing, with intense and intriguing plots and vivid characters. Patterson has given us over 50 novels in just about 30 years, and perhaps the most famous of his characters is the psychologist Alex Cross. A former detective, Cross also hit the big screen, played by Morgan Freeman in 'Along Came A Spider' and 'Kiss The Girls', and it is the intrigue and clever characterisation of these films that first made me try ... Black Market - James Patterson "Good morning. This is Green Band speaking. Today is December 4th. A Friday. A history-making Friday, we believe...The Wall Street financial district from the East river to Broadway, is scheduled to be firebombed today. A large number of randomly selected targets will be completely destroyed late this afternoon...It might be an attack by air; it might be a ground attack. Whichever - it will occur at five minutes past five precisely...Begin the evacuation of the Wall Street financial district now. Green Band cannot possibly be stopped or deterred. Nothing I've said is negotiable. Our decision is irrevocable." ... Read the complete review

I've been reading James Patterson novels on and off for about 5 years. My friend introduced me to them, and after spending quite a bit of time ploughing through a Clancy novel it was enjoyable and I could hardly put the thing down. All of JP's books are based around detective's of one sort or another. There are the famous Alex Cross novels (including the 2 that were made into movies Kiss The Girls and Along Came a Spider). At this point you may be noticing a little theme...all the Alex Cross novels use nursery rhyme titles: Pop Goes The Weasel, Jack and Jill, Roses are Red, See How they Run, Cat and Mouse, Cradle and All and his most recent novel ... James Patterson is a brilliant writer. As a fan of the likes of Stephen King, Koontz, Layman and thier ilk, I was looking for someone new to idolise when I picked up 'Kiss the Girls' at a car boot. I was reasonably impressed, the writer obviously had a unique style that manages to keep the pages turning without the need for blood and guts. However, I wasn't totally sold. Next, I ordered 'When the Wind Blows' as part of a introductory package for a book club. This one I really couldn't put down. It was brilliant! In fact, I've just finished reading it for about the third time and when I couldn't find it on Dooyoo to write ... Read the complete review

I became hooked on James Patterson when I called into a book shop and asked for recommendations for new authors that I could try. I get bored if I keep reading the same type of book and he as recommended. Normally others have different tastes in books so I start to read rather tentatively. I tried 'Pop goes the Weasel' first and got addicted at once and have been collecting his books ever since. No two books are the same and every time you think you have worked it all out and solved the story, he pulls the rug from under your feet and twists it in another direction. Excellent, how does he do it? I'm running out of bookcases!! ... Read the complete review
