Advantages: Brilliant books

Disadvantages: None really

James Patterson is a brilliant writer. As a fan of the likes of Stephen King, Koontz, Layman and thier ilk, I was looking for someone new to idolise when I picked up 'Kiss the Girls' at a car boot.

I was reasonably impressed, the writer obviously had a unique style that manages to keep the pages turning without the need for blood and guts. However, I wasn't totally sold.

Next, I ordered 'When the Wind Blows' as part of a introductory package for a book club. This one I really couldn't put down. It was brilliant! In fact, I've just finished reading it for about the third time and when I couldn't find it on Dooyoo to write about I fell back on Patterson in general to ease my frustration. For those who haven't read it, do! The plot concerns a vet and an FBI agent who come across a strange girl in the woods.....strange because she has wings and she can fly! The book then goes into how she came into existence, in a secret lab buried in the woods and Frannie (the vet) and Kit (the feebie) gain the girl's trust and promise to help her get away from the scientists. I won't tell you anymore, so not to spoil the plot; if you like Patterson, this is a must, in fact, it is even if you don't.

Patterson is quite a prolific writer, though still not quick enough for me; at the moment I'm waiting for 'Violets are Blue' to come out in paperback so I can buy it. (Anyone wants to get me a chrissie pressie, that's it!!) I've read most of his books now and I think my favourite id Along Came A Spider along with the above book I was raving about. His style is very easy and his good characters are likable and identifiable; his villans are easy to dislike. All in all, I think this author has got it sussed. I got a little fed-up with him when he stuck to the Alex Cross stories, though these are pretty good. Having read others, I wish he would diversify a little more.

The only book I have r
ead by this author that I didn't enjoy was the 'Midnight Club'. For some reason, this book just didn't grab me at all and I struggled through it for about a week rather than the usual day and a half.

I recommend this author fully and hope this op will induce you to go out and have a great read on me!
