Like Paula’s track performances, I’m afraid this biography tales off outside of the medals once again, too much personal stuff about injuries and boyfriends and not enough controversy and anecdotes, killing it stone dead. A biography should inspire you with those personal achievements, which this does do, but not bog the reader down with gossip and technical stuff, this book almost reading like a teenager’s diary over the award nominated sports book it apparently is. The Daily Telegraph did indeed shortlist this for sports book of the year, but all I can say is that must have been a very long short list, perhaps a sympathetic journo doing her a favor to shift a few ...
