PAULA YATES THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY is the title of Bob Geldof's former wife who is sadly no longer with us. Yates starts the book talking about her childhood growing up. She came from a working-class background, though had a decent upbringing. She was unsure what she wanted to become. This is a tedious part of the book as nothing much is interesting. The most interesting section of the book is when she meets her husband Bob Geldof. She talks about their love for each other and what it's really like to date a world superstar including many anecdotes of Geldof on the road. Paula Yates is a fascinating person to me. When she was alive, I enjoyed watching her on The Big Breakfast and cringed at the amateurish but exciting antics on The Tube. I liked seeing what outfit she would appear in next and how white her hair would be dyed. But most of all, I loved hearing about her family life and - unlike many others - I loved her children being given such unusual names. I read her books on motherhood when my own children were young and found them funny, witty and inspirational.
