Advantages: Excellent book, interesting concept

Disadvantages: Too short!

No, it is not a stinker for the book really will take you in 18th Century France, from Paris to Grasse via Montpellier. The accuracy of details is impressive, and the style of Patrick Suskind, although awkward at moment, is nevertheless charming and imaginative. However I was personally a tiny bit disappointed: the book is too short and unbalanced. The story is really all about Grenouille's search for the greatest scent on earth. And we have a good 200 pages about it. But when he does finally possess the greatest of all the scents, the story, and thus the end, is being told at a very different pace, a mere 50 pages!
Having said that, it is a fantastic story. And what a fantastic character Grenouille is!
I cannot wait to see the forthcoming movie with Dustin Hoffman as Baldini the master perfumer. But please read the book first, its smell will be definitely untranslatable on the big screen.

Summary: Excellent book, too short and unbalanced, but a must read book for its interesting concept.

You have a nice writing style but haven't quite gotten the hang of this review lark yet. Take a good look at book reviews on the site, and with your skill of use with the English language, I am sure you will be a fine reviewer.
